Olanap 5 is a prescription medication used to treat:
Schizophrenia – a mental condition characterized by hallucinations, delusions, and disorganized thinking.
Mania – episodes of abnormally elevated mood, energy, and activity, often seen in bipolar disorder.
Schizophrenia: Start with 5–10 mg/day. Titrate gradually if needed. Maintenance: 10–20 mg/day (max: 20 mg).
Bipolar Mania (Monotherapy or with lithium/valproate):
Bipolar Depression (with fluoxetine): Start at 5 mg/day, adjustable up to 20 mg/day in resistant cases.
Hepatic or Renal Impairment: Start at 5 mg/day.
Pediatric (13–17 yrs): Start with 2.5–5 mg/day; target dose: 10 mg/day; max: 20 mg/day.
Not recommended for children under 13.
Weight gain, blood sugar, and cholesterol elevation are notable metabolic concerns—lifestyle modification and regular monitoring are strongly advised.
